We wanted to share some exciting news on an effort we have been working towards in the background for a little while now, we are now officially a B Corp™!
Being a Certified B Corporation® is something which we are immensely proud of as a company, for a great many reasons. Firstly, we believe that our values and ethics align perfectly with what B Corporation® stands for. Secondly, it shows our commitment and dedication to being the best company we can be - to our team, to our clients, and to the world. Thirdly, it means we get to join a community of like-minded companies and people who also want to work at making things better. As an Employee Owned Company we feel this certification shows our continued dedication and we are so thrilled at further enshrining our commitment to looking at what we can do to be better to those around us.
As a B Corp™, we’re part of a global community of businesses that meet high standards of social and environmental impact. This is certified by B Lab®, the not-for-profit behind the B Corp™ movement, as exemplifying where we have met rigorous ethical standards which represent our commitment to goals outside of shareholder profit.
The B Corp™ certification addresses the entirety of a business’ operations and covers five key impact areas of Governance, Workers, Community, Environment and Customers. The certification process is conscientious, with applicants required to reach a benchmark score of over 80 while providing evidence of socially and environmentally responsible practices relating to energy supplies, waste and water use, worker compensation, diversity and corporate transparency. To complete the certification, the company will legally embed their commitment to purpose beyond profit in their company articles. Reaching this level required a lot of hard work and reassessing how we work, to make sure we were raising up policies and cultures of social and environmental care, where not doing so might even have been the easier way. This is confirmation of what we’ve been working hard to achieve — using business as a force for good.
Being a B Corp™ is not a once and done approach, requiring an ongoing commitment that we want to honour and improve upon. It holds continuous future assessments, meaning we will seek to be even better over the coming years.
